Nipple Discharge<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Nipple discharge is a fairly common complaint.
\nIn the majority of cases it is insignificant as it is usual for nipples to produce small
\namount of colorless \/yellowish discharge. Usually not seen but, if it builds up
\ncould be noticed.
\nWe differentiate between:<\/strong> Blood stained<\/strong> or Non-blood stained<\/strong>
\nAlso: Spontaneous<\/strong> or Non Spontaneous<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • – History in details including Blood<\/strong> stained or not and spontaneous<\/strong> or not.<\/span>
    \n– Examination : noticing any Lumps, deformity and the color of discharge.<\/span>
    \n– Mammogram for the over 35 years. Ultrasound for under 35<\/span>
    \n– Further investigations are according to findings on examination.<\/span>
    \n– Sending a swab of the discharge for microscopic examination is advised by<\/span>
    \nmany, though rarely helpful. I don\u2019t request<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    – Often all it needs is assurance.
    \n– If Mammogram is abnormal, treat according to finding.
    \n– If a palpable lump, treat accordingly.
    \n– If All investigations are normal but Blood stained, I do recommend excision
    \nof the duct producing blood or all the milk ducts.
    \n– If the discharge is profuse or socially embarrassing, I do recommend
    \nexcision of the milk ducts.
