{"id":2566,"date":"2021-02-09T00:03:42","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T00:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ashrafelzayat.com\/?p=2566"},"modified":"2021-11-29T11:55:13","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T11:55:13","slug":"cancer-during-pregnancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ashrafelzayat.com\/en\/cancer-during-pregnancy\/","title":{"rendered":"Cancer during Pregnancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"direction: rtl; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #d76c86;\"><strong>Cancer during Pregnancy<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Uncommon but NOT rare situation when a pregnant woman develops Breast <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cancer.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Unfortunately, they present late if ignored and got false assurance by own doctor <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">as normal changes of pregnancy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For this reason, we urge any pregnant lady who develops a breast lump to seek <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">the advice of a Breast Specialist Surgeon.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">No Mammography or exposure to radiation during pregnancy please.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If assessment proved cancer, management will depend on stage of pregnancy (<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">trimester).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Management dilemmas are:<\/strong> need of <strong>Chemotherapy<\/strong> and need of Radiation <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">therapy, with all the hazards to the unborn foetus.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The first 3 months carry the risk from exposure to medicines.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">All through pregnancy, there is a risk from exposure to Radiation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\uf076 First 3 months:<\/strong> Mastectomy is the treatment of choice, to avoid exposure <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">of foetus to Chemotherapy or Radiation. To be followed after first 3 months<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">with Chemotherapy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\uf076 Months 4 \u2013 6:<\/strong> Breast Conservation is a possibility if tumor is not too big or <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">enormous, otherwise Mastectomy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">To be followed by Chemotherapy immediately.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">To be followed by Radiation therapy after delivery.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\uf076 Months7 \u2013 9:<\/strong> All options are there.
